If you’re not aware of the background behind Amie’s long absence from work, read her post The Unemployed Mum, in which she gives a frank account of the challenges she has faced in trying to return to work following her maternity leave.

Amie is also collating a series of interviews with other mums and dads about their experience of work after kids. Some of these stories are shocking and sad at the treatment parents have faced in the workplace. Others are hopeful, showing how employers and parents can work together to create a harmonious working relationship and environment for everyone to thrive in. Check out her Parents at Work series on her blog, which goes live from April 1st.

Also, if you have been affected by any of the issues Amie describes, or if you’re an employer who would like to find out more about this increasing issue and how you can support parents in the workplace, check out for more information about your rights.
